A computer supported drawings system is used to determine all winning numbers to make sure the winning numbers are drawn by random. Consequently all ticket numbers in the game have the same chance of being drawn. The system is based upon the use of 6 drums containing a certain number of balls and is designed to make sure that every ticket number in play between 0,000,001 and 3,000,000 could be determined as a winner. Drum number 1 contains 30 balls numbered from 00-29; the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th drum each contains 10 balls numbered between 0-9. With the balls of the 6th drum 1-digit ending numbers (300,000 winning numbers each) will be drawn. With the balls of the 5th and 6th drum 2-digit ending numbers (30,000 winning numbers each) will be drawn. With the 4th, 5th and 6th drum 3-digit ending numbers (3,000 winning numbers each) will be drawn. With the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th drum 5-digit ending numbers (30 winning numbers each) will be drawn. With the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th drum 7-digit ending numbers (1 winning number only) will be drawn. All winning amounts drawn refer to a full ticket. The lowest possible drawn ending number is the number 0, the highest possible drawn ending number is the number 2,999,999. The winning number 0,000,000 represents ticket number 3,000,000.

The daily drawings
The winning numbers of the daily drawings are carried out with the use of a MOT-inspected, certified random number generator. This guarantees that the winning numbers are determined by random and are safety forwarded to the data processing system of the NKL. The Federal Office for Security of information technology has awarded our certified random number generator with the accepted German IT-Safety Certificate.

The Jackpot drawings
In the jackpot drawings of the 1st to 5th class first of all a preliminary drawing will be held in which a number between 0 and 2 will be selected. If the number 0 is drawn in one of the preliminary drawings a 7-digit winning number will be determined as the Jackpot winning number immediately. If the number 1 or 2 is drawn the winning amount of this Jackpot drawing will be transfered to the Jackpot drawing of the following class and will be added to the stipulated winning amount of that day. In the 6th class a winning number will be selected without an anticipated drawing.

The special drawings of the NKL
Also the Super Drawings are carried out by a mechanical drawing device.

The drawings of non-cash prizes - without any extra charges
For each of these winnings a 7-digit winning number will be drawn. If the drawn number is a full (1/1) ticket the winner of the non-cash prize has been determined at once. If the ticket number is issued in 1/2-, 1/4-, 1/8- or 1/16-shares, the winner will be determined by the additional drawing of a letter. Therefore every ticket number contains a letter in order to differenciate the ticket share. Full tickets always carry the letter A.

The pension joker drawings
In the pension joker drawings 7-digit winning numbers are determined. The winning numbers are determined with the same certified random number generator which is used for the daily drawings of the main game.

Repetition- and supplement drawings
In the event the same 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- or 7-digit number is drawn twice in the same price category on the same day a new number is drawn immediately in order to replace the identical number (repetition drawings). In the 6th class all winning numbers of the 4 Extra Special Drawings are eliminated from the remaining game prior to the next following Extra Special Drawing resp. Super Drawing. To avoid supplement drawings on already eliminated 1-digit ending winning numbers, the respective balls will be removed from the 6th drum. Beginning with the 2nd Extra Special Drawing of the 6th class every ending number (e.g. 567) which has been part of an already eliminated higher digit ticket number (e.g. 1.234.567) the necessary number of supplement drawings (in this case one supplement drawing) will be held immediately.
